Update:
After Meesha Shafi accused Ali Zafar of sexual abuse more women have come forward in solidarity with Meesha stating that they had shared the same experience by him.
Singer, model, actress and a mother of two, Meesha Shafi has accused Ali Zafar of sexual harassment.
The renowned singer Meesha Shafi, in a social media post on Thursday, tweeted:
She also stated that
“I have been subjected to sexual harassment of a physical nature at the hands of a colleague from my industry: Ali Zafar. These incidences did not happen when I was young or just entering the industry. This happened to be despite the fact that I am an empowered, accomplished woman who is known for speaking her mind! This happened to me as a mother of two children.”
Her mother, actress Saba Hamid, said she supported her daughter’s decision to go public.
“I am hurt and angry and I feel very strongly about that this can happen with someone like Meesha who is so empowered is a rude awakening,” she said.
However, Ali Zafar denies all the allegations against him and stated that he would take Meesha to court. Ali also added that he would not like to “contest vendetta on social media” and disrespect the movement, his family, the media industry and his fans.
The incident quickly became highly discussed topic on the social media platform, as the public and celebrities chose their side and shared their thoughts about the #Metoo movement and the incident.
